This was developed by Nancy Nick who in 1996 lost her father to male breast cancer. She designed it in memory of him and there is a poem that goes along with the pink/blue ribbon that says: The ribbons are pink, but should be pink and blue, women get Breast cancer but men get it too!

Prices for breast cancer awareness pins and ribbons vary from the very cheap $3.00 for a simple pink metallic ribbon up to hundreds of dollars for jeweled survivor pins. Most manufacturers give discounts for fund-raisers as well as bulk purchase discounts. If the retailer says so a percentage of the profits go to cancer research you may want to ask the actual percentage that goes to them and to what society or group is it given to.
